Darkroom Tip: One Thermometer to Rule Them All

Your development times don't depend on the true temperature of your chemistry nearly as much as they depend on repeatability. A thermometer that reads 0.5°C high everywhere gives you identical negatives from session to session — two "accurate" thermometers that disagree give you drifting contrast you can't explain.

Pick one thermometer, use it for developer, stop, fix, and wash, and never lend it out. If you upgrade, run a comparison test and adjust your times rather than trusting the new number.
